Bully Victimization part 2
Very Important Journalist Note: This was received in an e-mail from Terri Ziglar. Per the magazine's policy: it is a straight, unedited, copy / paste.
Approximately 20 school shootings thus far this year according to CNN. That's approximately 1.8 per week. So much rage that already exist in our schools.
Step one has to be the security in our schools. Tougher gun laws regarding who has access to buying them is essential. My personal opinion includes much more tighter regulation at gun shows and putting an end to the sales of automatic weapons, but that's really a sidebar to the point I'm trying to make.
Although the sales regulations must be changed, let's think about the fact that the guns being used in these school shootings are not being bought at stores, by the conventional law abiding citizen.
No, these guns are being sought after by enraged, hurt schoolkids that have come to the conclusion that the only way to end their pain is to take out revenge and die in the process. They will find their weapon and take any means necessary.
What we all must be aware of, is how easy these weapons are to find, and I don't mean at home. There is always someone that wants to make some money, that is more than willing to sell any type of weapon wanted. Always. And with the determination of a school shooter, they will find a way to buy.
Thus, my point. It is imperative that there be exquisitely trained armed security, ready to do whatever necessary, at our schools to protect our children. Changing gun laws are not enough. The school boards budget changes are of no importance when it comes to the safety of our children. There is no time to think about this, because unfortunately we don't know when or where the next school shooting will happen.
