Murkowski embraces gun control package as “good first step”
Incumbent Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski has embraced the gun control package being floated by a group of senators, calling it “a good first step,” indicating that she would like to see even more erosion of 2nd Amendment rights for law-abiding citizens. In a tweet Tuesday morning, Murkowski demonstrated once again that she is siding with elitists in Washington, D.C. over her Alaska constituents who view lawful gun ownership as a basic facet of their constitutional rights.
Murkowski’s anti-2nd Amendment revelation comes just days after she was caught on camera telling noted anti-gun activist David Hogg that “in Congress, we owe some steps here.”
Alaska Republican U.S. Senate candidate Kelly Tshibaka today issued the following statement:
“Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell gave his blessing to senators seeking to undermine the 2nd Amendment and Lisa Murkowski quickly joined in. She has proven that she has completely abandoned defending the constitutional rights of Alaska citizens and clearly missed the part where the 2nd Amendment says those rights ‘shall not be infringed.’ The lawful ownership of firearms is central to our identity as Alaskans, and we use them to feed our families and for self-defense. Banning guns and confiscating privately held firearms are two poorly concealed goals of leftist activists, and, incredibly, Murkowski has joined forces with them. After more than 20 years in the Senate, it’s clear that Lisa Murkowski cares much more about what the D.C. insiders think than she does about the basic rights of Alaskans.
“Murkowski’s disclosure perfectly encapsulates why Alaskans can’t trust her – she pretends to be a friend of the 2nd Amendment when she visits Alaska, but meanwhile she’s at work making deals with anti-gun activists in Washington, D.C. At least Democratic Senate candidate Pat Chesbro is up front about her plans to undercut our rights, so everyone knows where she stands.
“When I am the next senator from Alaska, I will not support Mitch McConnell for Republican leader, and I will always stand up for the rights of law-abiding citizens to defend themselves and their families under the 2nd Amendment.”
