Murkowski declares willingness to erode 2nd Amendment rights
Continuing to demonstrate that she is completely out of touch with Alaskans, Sen. Lisa Murkowski told a prominent anti-gun activist that she’s willing to take steps to erode 2nd Amendment rights. In a video posted on Twitter by activist David Hogg, Murkowski said she believes Congress is obligated to assist with efforts by leftists to restrict the freedoms of law-abiding citizens in the wake of criminal mass shootings.
“You’re looking for some initial steps, yeah,” Murkowski told Hogg. “I get that. I totally get that. And I think that in Congress, we owe some steps here.”
“Okay, perfect,” Hogg said in reply.
“We can’t say, ‘It’s so complicated that we can’t do anything,’” Murkowski continued.
“Because I think that’s where the frustration is.”
Alaska Republican U.S. Senate candidate Kelly Tshibaka today issued the following
statement:
“Lisa Murkowski is so immersed in Washington, D.C. that she has completely forgotten that the lawful ownership of firearms is basic to the identity of Alaskans, both for self-defense and for hunting. Sadly, we are used to the D.C. insiders encroaching on our rights, but it’s particularly shocking to see our senior senator pledging to work with anti-2nd Amendment activists to erode the rights of law-abiding Alaskans. This can’t be overstated: Leftists are coming for our guns and Lisa Murkowski has just promised to help them. When I’m a senator, I will not allow the actions of deranged criminals to infringe on the rights guaranteed to law-abiding people under the Constitution.”
