Murkowski continues charade of pressing Haaland after voting to put her in office
Once again, Sen. Lisa Murkowski is trying to masquerade as someone who cares about what the disastrous Biden administration is doing to harm Alaska’s energy workers, increase the price of fuel, and drive inflation skyward. Murkowski continued the charade in a Senate committee hearing this week with Interior Secretary Deb Haaland by expressing concern about whether drilling lease sales for Cook Inlet will be allowed to proceed.
The problem is that Murkowski cast the tie-breaking vote to advance Haaland’s nomination to final confirmation in the Senate in the first place.
Alaska Republican U.S. Senate candidate Kelly Tshibaka today issued the following statement:
“This is classic Lisa Murkowski. She votes to put radical leftists in positions of power and then acts surprised when they act like radical leftists. It’s an endless cycle in which she votes to please her D.C. insider friends and then pretends to be horrified when her own actions directly harm the people of Alaska, whom she’s supposed to be representing. We are well past the point where anyone is fooled by her public statements because all we have to do is look at her record – and it’s not pretty for the state of Alaska. Murkowski voted to confirm almost all of Joe Biden’s radical cabinet appointments and now wrings her hands every time they do something that’s bad for us. At least Democratic Senate candidate Pat Chesbro would be honest about it – she’d vote for Biden’s nominees and be proud of it. When I’m in the Senate, I will always vote for Alaska’s interests, opposing nominees that would harm our state, and not put my popularity among the elite above Alaskans like our current senior senator does.”
