Honestly, completely forgot about this one until I was checking social media on trip to Philadelphia. Rittenhouse Square is one of my favorite places in the city. Arrived before it opened (11 a.m. Sunday official opening). Walked around center where student artists located. Adult artists were on outside completely surrounding the square. Great conversation with a student artist setting up. Between 10:30 - 11:00 several artists setup / ready for the crowd. Had another major event in Camden at noon.
Could easily have been here for a few hours. Missed the ferry, looking at time constantly. "NP, take Lyft over. I have another 20 / 15 / 10 / 5 minutes. Maybe another 5." You get the idea. Covered one of the art shows prior to pandemic. Walking around outside, didn't realize artists from across the country were here. Great conversations, amazing / incredible art by each one!
Heather Lynn Gibson: a few of her paintings, had to look closer. They looked like photos, that realistic! She was not the only one. Sharon Strine: I have always been a photojournalist in photography. Somehow, she transfers that to her painting. Madison Makala Greiner: Realism / almost creating a new genre. She adds an almost surreal / vague aspect in some of her work. Only 3 of several artists I had conversations with.
Fan of Abstract Art since a teenager. Not big on Realism. Definitely not an art critic by a long shot. Can't tell you most genres / styles. Walk through an exhibit and stop at what I like. Usually have 1 or 2 favs from an exhibit / show. Some artists at this show, could not even narrow it down. Did not even try for combined exhibit. Regret not having more time to explore / check out every artist / creation. Which says a lot about Rittenhouse Square Fine Art Show. Have covered easily over 150 exhibits / shows in past 10 years. BTW: By 11:15 show was drawing a large crowd. Scroll down for full, video review / tour / more photos.
