Nevada Governor’s Office of Energy celebrates Energy Efficiency Day this Wednesday
Easiest, quickest and most cost-effective way to reduce emissions
(CARSON CITY, Nev.) – On Energy Efficiency Day, the Nevada Governor’s Office of Energy (GOE) reminds residents and businesses that energy efficiency is a key component of the Nevada Climate Strategy to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
“Energy efficiency is the standard now in Nevada buildings,” David Bobzien, GOE director, said. “With our recent adoption of the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code, building energy codes are more efficient than ever before, setting us up for significantly reduced GHG emissions from buildings and making those built environments safer and healthier for all.”
Per Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) Chapter 701.220, GOE adopts the most recently published version of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and adopted the 2021 IECC on July 28. The 2021 IECC is nine percent more efficient than the 2018 version.
“The easiest, most affordable way to contribute to Nevada’s energy efficiency is to replace inefficient lightbulbs in homes and businesses,” Director Bobzien said. “Thanks to Assembly Bill 383 during the last legislative session, our office will soon facilitate new standards for energy efficient appliances sold in Nevada.”
Implementing energy efficiency measures across Nevada helps meet the state’s climate goals and ensures Nevada residents have safe, healthy, and comfortable homes and workplaces with reduced energy costs.
