- Governor Roy Cooper and members of the Coronavirus Task Force will be available today for a dial-in media briefing at 5 p.m. regarding COVID-19. Check the Governor's public schedule for call-in details.
- More than half (51.1%) of North Carolina adults are at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19 because they are 65 or older, have at least one underlying health condition or both, according to data analyzed by the NC Department of Health and Human Services. Read more.

- Governor Cooper urged non-tax filers with dependents to complete the form for federal Economic Impact Payments by today, May 5. While people who receive Social Security (SSI) will receive the full $1,200 stimulus payment automatically, those who didn’t file federal tax returns in 2018 or 2019 will need to use the IRS online tool to register to receive an additional $500 stimulus payment for each qualifying child.
- On April 30, FEMA announced North Carolina’s eligibility to apply for Crisis Counseling Program (CCP) disaster funds and NCDHHS acted quickly to submit an application that same day. NCDHHS plans to leverage these CCP dollars to implement additional mental health supports and crisis counselling services for North Carolinians in response to the COVID-19 pandemic through two connected efforts — the Hope4NC Helpline and a Crisis Counseling Program tailored for COVID-19.
