Daily Updates:
  • There is no dial-in media briefing regarding COVID-19 planned for today. Details on the next media briefing will be included in Monday’s June 1 Situation Update.
  • NCDHHS is requesting Congressional support to extend the Pandemic-Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) program to provide food for children beyond the traditional school calendar year. Extending P-EBT benefits through the summer months would help provide the families of nearly half of North Carolina school children about $250 in additional support per child to buy groceries.   • Governor Roy Cooper has announced that North Carolina has received a $6 million federal grant to support jobs and workforce training to help address the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Read more.
  • NCDHHS Secretary Cohen shared a letter in response to Republican National Convention organizers. Governor's Office spokesperson Sadie Weiner shared the following statement: "North Carolina will continue working with the RNC to ensure the convention can be held safely."
