ICYMI: MEDIA RECAP OF CAITLYN JENNER’S TOUR OF THE U.S.-MEXICO BORDER
Caitlyn Jenner tours U.S.-Mexico border in San Diego during recall campaign
San Diego Union Tribune
Gubernatorial candidate Caitlyn Jenner toured the U.S.-Mexico border in San Diego Friday, building on a platform in the recall race that includes calls for construction of former President Donald Trump’s border wall to resume.
As she spoke to reporters near the eastern edge of the fence in Otay Mesa, a small group of Brazilian migrants walked from Tijuana into San Diego through an opening in an unfinished portion of the border structure, where metal slats lay discarded nearby.
Border Patrol union officials, who led Jenner, 71, on the tour, used the incident to drive home their message.
Border Patrol Agent Greg, the vice-president of NBPC Local 1613, the National Border Patrol Council’s local chapter, said the migrants were just trying to turn themselves in to agents.
…
“One of the reasons I decided to run for governor is I was laying in bed and I was watching what’s happening at the border and I was so upset with it,” said Jenner. “People dying. People drowning. Kids in cages. It was bad policies and bad outcomes. Horrible outcomes, in this case.”
The border stop, on the second day of a month-long campaign tour, was to advocate for border wall construction to be finished — possibly by soliciting public donations and using state funds as has Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, she said.
Construction crews building the steel wall along parts of the U.S.-Mexico border were brought to a halt on Jan. 20 when President Joe Biden issued an executive order pausing the Trump administration’s signature infrastructure project.
Jenner said she was the only candidate among the 46 to come tour the border with agents.

FOX 5 San Diego
Republican gubernatorial candidate Caitlyn Jenner visited the border Friday in Otay Mesa, hiking along the border wall with U.S. Border Patrol agents, as part of a campaign swing through the state.
“We need, as Californians to – bottom line – secure this border, whatever it takes,” Jenner said.
With illegal immigration numbers skyrocketing across the southern border, Jenner says border security is the top issue that got her to run in the recall election against California Governor Gavin Newsom.
“Newsom’s never even been down to the border,” Jenner said. “I cannot believe this guy’s been in office and never been to the border. This is such an important issue — that’s why we need to recall him.”

Caitlyn Jenner tours southern border: 'We don't have a country unless we have a secure border'
The Hill
"We don't have a state, we do not have a country unless we have a secure border," Jenner said. "Bottom line. That's it."
Jenner pledged to "fill in the gaps" at the border wall by providing more resources with state funds, while simultaneously slamming current Gov. Gavin Newsom's (D) approach to mitigate the recent influx in border crossings.
"I commend everyone at border control and I would like them to know me as governor," Jenner said. "I would support them one hundred percent. I'd come down here all the time to support them and to see what's going on on this border. There's a lot a governor can do, but we have to have a governor who's willing to do this."
