This one seriously hits the heart...
As usual, scanning the crowdfunding sites for another review. Music is my lifelong love and first one. Scrolling down that category on Indiegogo, The title caught my attention for some reason. Honestly, going into the project, I expected the usual (quick breakdown, video, background, etc.). Ms. Reynolds really caught me off guard here!
Yes, she did give a quick history / background right off. The second topic really takes it down to a very personal level. Ms. Reynolds is point blank and completely honest. Sharing a little part of the story on how her wife passed away. I want to make an important point here:
It is very clear Ms. Reynolds did not do this for sympathy or to get more donations. It is more like she wants to share her entire story with us. Inviting us to join her along the way.
I went through the campaign 3 times. Re-reading and watching the video.
Definitely the personal story is what seriously hits your heart...
Ms. Reynolds also informs us she has been doing a lot of self-funding for this project. Again, not a desperation move to gain more donations. Something that easily deserves a lot of credit and respect!
I also really that she will be releasing singles as they are finished vs. waiting for the entire album. Reason: This is almost like a book or movie style. You finish one song / part of the story and can not wait for more! Definitely a different approach. It shows that Ms. Reynolds is taking an alternate, modern day approach to her music.
Perks / Rewards:
The range is very appropriate. Starting at $12 for cd / download to $100 for Handwritten Lyric Sheet (plus lower levels). Ms. Reynolds could probably have added 1 or 2 more higher levels to stand a higher chance of reaching the goal. Plus a lower one like $5 for just a download. Personally, I am straight digital.
Overall:
Maybe this one is a little too personal why I decided to feature it. My wife passed away in 2007. That is what makes this project so appealing! Ms. Reynolds is very sincere and honest. She mentions the personal side not to get our attention / sympathy / more donations. So we can relate to this project and her music on a deeper level. Thank you for being honest / sincere / different! Definitely make a donation of even $1!
