Just enough of a teaser....
Wizard World Philadelphia was a great place to check out indie creators. Zenescope Entertainment was one of many. Stopping by their section, I noticed the Grimm Fairy Tales Comics. Speaking with a representative caught my interest. Honestly, I don't remember Grimm Fairy Tales. I always love a modern take on the classics, especially if they re-invent while keeping the original concept / meaning.
Grimm Fairy Tales Genesis is a preview of 5 different series and main characters. The creators and Zenescope did an excellent job on it....

From a more technical side, Genesis has a great layout. The art is a lot more real than cartoon. Genesis is definitely not for kids. Some scenes are graphic with violence. This is a definite plus, it adds to the immersion factor.
Another bonus for Genesis: immersion factor! While reading, at a Taco Bell, nothing else existed. Graphics / art are one point, another is the story presentation. Each story dropped you right into the action and characters. Plus, 4 of the 5 had great cliffhangers that seriously have you wanting more! Each story intro is the right length to keep your attention. A quick read, but more than enough details.
When finished, I not only wanted to know what happens next. I also wanted the character background. The writing also allows you to get to know the characters like real people.
Overall, Grimm Fairy Tales Genesis has it all, especially in immersion. One thing I could not figure out: The art was graphic at times, the language was pulled back. Honestly, that one made no sense to me. Outside of that minor point, excellent art / graphics. Immersion factor was dead on point. Stories well written with great cliffhangers.
Highly recommend going to Zenescope's site. Check out all their titles and creators. Really do not think you will be disappointed. Again, really not for the kids with Genesis and the titles it starts off.
