Governor Sisolak announces federal funding for National Guard
Carson City, NV — Today, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak announced the approval from the United States Department of Defense for federal funding and authority to use the Nevada National Guard under Title 32 U.S.C. Section 502(f) to respond to the state’s emergency resulting from the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
“I am grateful for the approval of this additional funding, which will help Nevada battle this invisible enemy, flatten the curve and save lives,” Gov. Sisolak said. “Our exceptional Nevada National Guard trains year-round for crises of all types. They are committed to protecting the health and safety of our citizens, and they are ready to join the fight.”
Gov. Sisolak announced the activation of the Nevada National Guard on Wednesday, April 1. The guard will assist in delivering critical medical equipment and supplies, provide a labor force and help plan the massive logistical operations needed to get resources distributed throughout the State.
The Nevada National Guard is led by Nevada’s Adjutant General Ondra L. Berry, who was pinned major general last week.
