Governor Sisolak signs emergency regulation adjusting pricing standards for transportation network companies
CARSON CITY, NV – Today, ahead of the State’s goal of a full economic reopening by June 1, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak signed an emergency regulation which updates pricing standards for Transportation Network Companies (TNC)– allowing for ridesharing companies to better serve Nevadans and travelers looking to take advantage of transportation options.
Existing regulations prohibit TNC’s from increasing fares above the base rate during a State of Emergency, which is intended to prevent price variability during short emergencies. The emergency regulation, submitted to the Governor by the Nevada Transportation Authority, will allow price variability to resume.
The regulation change will help residents and visitors by decreasing wait times, increasing public safety and providing efficient and affordable transportation options during the ongoing public health crisis. The Governor’s emergency regulation is effective immediately.
