Governor Ivey to Light Official State Christmas Tree
MONTGOMERY – Governor Kay Ivey on Friday will light the official state Christmas tree. The theme of this year’s ceremony is “Every Light a Prayer for Peace.” The official state Christmas tree is a 35-foot Eastern Red Cedar from Letohatchee, Alabama, donated by Robbins Taylor, Sr.
Joining the governor will be Major General David J. Francis, Commanding General of the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence and Fort Rucker, as well as Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed and other community leaders.
The event is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m., with musical performances by the 151st Army National Guard Band beginning at 5:00 p.m.
As the state asks the public to wear masks and practice social distancing, members of the media, public officials and staff present will also wear masks and practice social distancing during the event.
