Governor and First Lady Parson to Host Second Annual Heart for the Hungry Food Drive
(JEFFERSON CITY, MO) – Today, Governor Mike Parson and First Lady Teresa Parson announced the second annual Heart for the Hungry Food Drive beginning Monday, November 16 through Friday, November 20, 2020.
“Last year, our goal was to collect 2,019 pounds of food and non-perishable items. This year we are increasing that goal to include 2,020 pounds of food and $2,020 in monetary donations. For every $1 donation, $21 worth of food will be purchased for Missouri families,” Governor and First Lady Parson said in a joint statement. “Whether it be across the state or across the street, there are countless Missourians who will be touched by your generosity. We thank you in advance for your consideration and wish you and your family many blessings during this Thanksgiving season.”
All contributions will benefit the Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri, which serves 32 counties across the state.
Collection barrels for canned goods and other non-perishable food items will be placed in front of the Governor’s Mansion at the Madison Street entrance, the basement garage entrance of the Capitol building, and the bottom of the escalator in the basement of the Capitol building.
Individuals unable to participate in person are encouraged to make a non-perishable or monetary contribution here: http://weblink.donorperfect.com/heartforthehungry.
