GETTR statement on NYTimes story on Brazilian politics
Jason Miller, Chief Executive Officer of the new free speech social media platform GETTR, today issued the following statement regarding the New York Times' article highlighting GETTR's operations in Brazil:
"Free speech is under attack around the globe, with both the mainstream media and the ruling elite seeking to silence anyone who does not share their views. A politicized judiciary - in any country - also undermines the very fabric of democracy. We saw it with the Russia Hoax here in the United States, and we are now seeing it in Brazil, where all decisions, not only of President Bolsonaro but also of Parliament, are being reviewed by the judiciary. The mainstream media should be condemning this, not celebrating it. At GETTR, we are proud to be part of the fight to end cancel culture and give people a place where they can debate and discuss ideas, which is the very core of a healthy democracy and a free press."
