COVID-19 Mitigation and Management Task Force meeting is available
CARSON CITY, NV — The Nevada COVID-19 Mitigation and Management Task Force met today and discussed the status of COVID-19 in Nevada and the current vaccination efforts.
Immunize Nevada presented details about the Nevada Vaccine Equity Collaborative, a group dedicated to the equitable distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine. The Collaborative will focus on grassroots efforts for outreach and pop-up clinics aimed at vaccinating Nevada’s most vulnerable populations.
In addition to discussions on equity, Immunize Nevada shared details of its statewide outreach campaign to promote COVID-19 vaccination. The “3 Million Reasons” initiative was developed and launched in March to encourage vaccination among Nevadans, inspire eligible Nevadans to learn about COVID-19 vaccines and then to choose to get the vaccine to protect themselves, their loved ones and all of Nevada’s three million residents.
“This campaign is an extremely important initiative to help us address the questions Nevadans have about the vaccines that are available,” said Caleb Cage, Governor Sisolak’s Director of COVID-19 Response. “The more information we can share through efforts like this about the different vaccines, how they were developed, and how effective they are, the more we can maximize the use of this valuable tool in our efforts to open Nevada fully and responsibly.”
The State Biostatistician noted Nevada is seeing a leveling off of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations throughout the state.
The Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Analytics discussed updates to the COVID-19 Dashboard located on Nevada Health Response. The updates included changes to vaccination datapoints, giving counties more information to assist in the development of plans as part of Nevada’s Roadmap to Recovery Transition.
The Department of Health and Human Services provided an update on the status of vaccinations in Nevada. Nevada has vaccinated 32.34% of the population, over the age of 16, with at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
More information on COVID-19 vaccination efforts can be found on NVCOVIDFighter.org.
The meetings are always streamed live on YouTube and the replay is available. More information about the task force can be found in the Nevada Health Response – COVID-19 Task Force page.
