Intensity Re-Defined!
Found out about Velvet Rouge Wawa Welcome America / Avenue of the Arts Block Party this year. Intro to Philadelphia local music. Don't think there could have been a better band! Top priority to experience again / review. Fast forward to Johnny Brenda's.
Gina and Joe told me the band would be on fire for the show. They lied. It was a serious, fucking, white hot inferno!!!!!! Over 2 days later, still trying to figure out how to describe / review this Rock entity. Can't remember the last time a band had this effect, very serious. Important point: Band is unpredictable. You can't figure out what direction they will go next. Even in a song. I LOVE it when a band does this! Example: Building up energy / backing off slightly / taking it to a new level.
From 1st note to last, nothing but white-hot energy. Original lyrics combined with re-inventing / re-creating an entire genre (Rock). Gina / Joe / Buddy / Andrew want us to experience how serious they are about the music and performance. To a minor point, the band reminds me of rock in 70's / early to mid-80's (born in '71 / fell in love with music: July 4, 1976). Even though the stage was relatively small, they used every millimeter. Re-inventing a genre? How many times have you seen an acoustic guitar successfully used in a hard rock song? Drumbeats pushing to a more intense level of your soul / spirit. Guitar / bass lighting a fire even in darkest / most remote parts of your spirit. Vocals piercing every aspect of your existence. Stage performance / show? Two words: Beyond IN-FUCKING-CREDIBLE!!!!!
Speaking of Rock entities... How to describe Gina on stage? Possessed by every Rock Goddess that have ever existed. Enters an alternate plain of existence / reality. Unreal level of energy / power / emotion. She appears to lose herself in the music / energy.
Wow, there is a short version! Band members complement each other in best of ways. Creating / feeding off individual energy music. I can only remember maybe 2 or 3 bands experienced on this level. They blow away every concert / show I have seen. At least a few hundred since a blog / simple music reviews 10 years ago. I am including bands like Daughtry / 3 Doors Down (personal favorites). To check out this band online is one thing. You need to experience them in person. Please scroll down for video reviews / photos / video clips from the show. Definitely check out their website!
