LANSING, Mich. -- Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Chief Medical Executive Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, and MDHHS Director Dr. Elizbeth Hertel provided an update regarding COVID-19 and announced new reengagements for restaurants, entertainment venues, and nursing homes and the creation of a task force under the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity to make recommendations on reopening workplaces safely.
The governor continued to urge passage of her MI COVID Recovery plan to fully allocate over $5 billion in federal funds passed by a bipartisan majority of Michigan’s congressional delegation and signed by President Trump to help the state increase testing, tracing, and lab capacity and ramp-up vaccinations to come out of the pandemic and economic downturn stronger than ever before.
The governor was also joined by Paula Cunningham of the AARP, Michael Krueger of Crunchy’s, and Mike Stack of Applied Fitness Solutions.
