What They Are Saying: Biden Shows Weakness in Face of Defund the Police Demands
As the 'Defund the Police' movement continues to radically grow among the Democrat Party, Americans have yet to hear from Joe Biden himself. After taking six days to address the defunding the police narrative, his campaign issued a weak statement from a mid-level staffer. Americans deserve to know where Joe Biden truly stands as he refuses to step in and guide his party away from chaos.
Earlier today, Donald J. Trump for President Inc. hosted a press briefing call on the 'Defund the Police' movement with Trump 2020 Communications Director Tim Murtaugh, former Treasurer and Secretary of State of Ohio and former Mayor of Cincinnati Ken Blackwell, and former Sheriff of Chester County, Pennsylvania Sheriff Carolyn “Bunny” Welsh.
The speakers discussed Joe Biden's extremely weak leadership and lack of strength to stand up to the radical leftists who are now calling the shots in his party. Whether it be officials at the National Association of Police Organizations or the Fraternal Order of Police, it should come as no surprise that the thousands of brave men and women dressed in blue know that Joe Biden and his party are no ally of law and order.
What They Are Saying:
Trump 2020 Campaign Manager Brad Parscale: "This is insane! Democrats like Joe Biden want to defund the police. Then, they call Americans “privileged” for worrying about safety. There's nothing privileged about wanting to protect your family. President Trump will always fight for law and order." (Twitter, 6/8/20)
National Chair of Trump Victory Finance Committee and Trump 2020 Senior Advisor Kimberly Guilfoyle: "Will mid-level staffers also be answering questions from voters whenever Joe Biden returns to the campaign trail? There are no teleprompters or fill-ins on the debate stage for Hidin' Joe Biden!" (Twitter, 6/8/20)
Trump 2020 Communications Director Tim Murtaugh: “Joe Biden cannot be let off the hook after his campaign issued a weak statement from a mid-level staffer. We still haven’t heard from Joe Biden himself on the radical ‘Defund the Police’ movement in the Democrat Party. It would have been the simplest thing in the world to stick his name on a statement, but he didn’t even do that. We have previously seen the Biden campaign say one thing on an issue right before their candidate says another. Until Americans hear from Joe Biden himself, they have no way of knowing where he really stands. Joe Biden is the leader of his party and he could single-handedly step in and steer elected Democrats away from this terrible policy, which invites chaos in American communities, but he has remained secluded in his basement saying nothing. The ‘Defund the Police’ train has already left the Democrat station, and Joe Biden is merely a weak passenger.” (Statement, 6/8/20)
Trump 2020 Senior Advisor Jason Miller: "Biden himself silent, hiding behind jr. staffer to avoid angering base. Media wants to let him off the hook. Reality: 1) As Dem leader, Biden could stop defunding of police depts. 2) Biden could stop NYC & LA from slashing police budgets. 3) Biden could stop ANTIFA violence." (Twitter, 6/8/20)
House Republican Conference Chair and Representative (WY) Liz Cheney: "Neither @JoeBiden nor @SpeakerPelosi will say directly that they oppose defunding and dismantling police. They are completely unserious and unfit to lead." (Twitter, 6/8/20)
Congressman Matt Gaetz (FL-1): "Biden doesn’t want to defund the Police in case they have to respond to his 'Silver Alert.'" (Twitter, 6/8/20)
Former Treasurer and Secretary of State of Ohio and former Mayor of Cincinnati Ken Blackwell: “The notion that we would defund police departments means that folks are willing to put the most vulnerable citizens in their communities at risk. You have to be stuck on stupid to buy into that.” (Trump Campaign press call, 6/8/20)
Former Sheriff of Chester County, Pennsylvania Sheriff Carolyn “Bunny” Welsh: “To even think about the idea of doing away with or eliminating law enforcement would be not only chaos but anarchy. And let me say something about Joe Biden: he owns this movement.” (Trump Campaign press call, 6/8/20)
Former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer: "Joe Biden used to brag about putting 100,000 cops on the street. But just like abortion and so many other policies, it’s only a matter of time until he walks away from that position too." (Twitter, 6/8/20)
NRSC Senior Advisor Matt Whitlock: "Not having Joe sign this statement is notable enough, but skipping the large group of senior advisors (like Symone Sanders) down to Andrew Bates for this statement seems notable. They’ve checked the box on the issue but don’t want to send too strong a signal." (Twitter, 6/8/20)
Trump 2020 Rapid Response Director Andrew Clark: "Biden had no problem rushing to the TV cameras to blame police for the riots and “escalating tension.” When it comes to defunding the police, his campaign issues a written statement that doesn’t even go out under his name. Know them by their priorities." (Twitter, 6/8/20)
