We all will be together...
Lines from the Christmas Song "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas". This article is way off the normal, advance warning. Going the personal, slightly emotional route here. Seriously not being in the holiday mood this year. Honestly, did not 100% decide until early Saturday evening. Attended the 30 year reunion / November 30, 2019 / Shanty on 19th. Almost 24 hours later, definitely glad I did.
Originally figured be there for about 1 hour, disappear against a wall and bail out. Arriving, a great person scrapped that plan real fast. Making sure people knew I was there and had zero chance of fading into the background. It was great to see everyone. After about 1 hour, looked around and those lines came to mind. The people, conversations, casual atmosphere all combined for a scene of old friends. Who had the idea: "OK, Thanksgiving / Black Friday done. Time to take some time and enjoy this holiday weekend." 3 hours, laughs, smiles, photos (really do not like doing those, impossible to stay serious and distant), finally headed out. Did not even notice the 1 hour walk with temps in the 30's. With almost quiet streets on Tilghman St. / Allentown, could not shake the feeling of being there. Or what happened in the next paragraph...
Going very personal, had a great conversation with an old friend. Finally admitted how much I wanted to go out with her in high school. Almost did ask her out, backed off that idea real fast. As of typing this article, 30 years later, feeling has not changed. I know, a little TMI (Too Much Information).
To say the very least: Very Special Thank You Chris Pez, you did an amazing job (especially with making sure I would be there). To everyone from the class of 1989 who were there. For reminding me what the holidays and life are about.
