Beautiful beginning / Important History...
The Rail Park is nature slicing through the city. A narrow path of concrete, sand, greenery, wood and benches. Surrounded by steel, asphalt, buildings, concrete and city life. A beautiful addition in areas that could use something different.
OK, commercial over. The first part was serious if sounding like a promo... The Rail Park is part nature and part beautiful park with area for bands / artists. The path is sand in the middle and concrete on both sides. Making The Rail Park a little different from your usual trails. Nice, slightly elevated, views offer some good photo ops. The end of Phase 1 has a swing / benches and is a good place to take a break, maybe with the person you are with...

Honestly, I thought it would be a little longer. Normal pace about 2 - 3 minutes to walk it. Remember, this is only Phase 1. With this kind of start, The Rail Park has almost limitless promise for a city constantly evolving, especially in the arts scene! Loved walking through 2 times (review / photos and video tour).
In addition to the beauty, The Rail Park has an important purpose for Philadelphia! I actually read the information / entrance to park. Never realized how important the city was / is for manufacturing. Usually when you think of Philadelphia, it is government and the beginning of this country. There is a lot more of less known, important, history to Philadelphia. The Rail Park and trail seriously bring it out.
Only down side, there was supposed to be a tour guide. Apparently, miscommunication and about 15 people were there. Definitely want to to stop by for an actual tour. Would love to learn more about the history!!!!
