Amid rise in COVID-19 cases in Southern Nevada, State and Southern Nevada Leadership work to redouble “Get Out the Vaccine” (GOTV) efforts
Governor Sisolak, State of Nevada Immunization Team, Immunize Nevada working with Chair Kirkpatrick, Clark County and Southern Nevada Health District to increase vaccination efforts
LAS VEGAS, NV -- With the start of an increasing trend in COVID-19 cases in Clark County and the emergence and increase in the Delta variant, State and local leaders and health officials are redoubling their Get Out The Vaccine (GOTV) efforts in Southern Nevada.
Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak today reiterated the State’s support to help on-the-ground immunization efforts in Clark County in partnership with local leaders and the Southern Nevada Health District.
“We know that in the last year and a half, the effects of this deadly virus have not changed, but our tools to fight the virus have – we now have vaccines, which are highly effective at reducing the severity of cases, hospitalization and deaths,” Governor Sisolak said. “By working together to increase access and confidence in the vaccines, we can help bring these case numbers down and ensure our communities are healthy and safe.”
“Getting vaccinated is the best, most effective way people can protect themselves from COVID-19,” said Dr. Fermin Leguen, District Health Officer for the Southern Nevada Health District. “We are committed to working with our state and local partners to provide information, answer questions, and make sure access to the vaccines is convenient to everyone who wants them.”
The State is increasing efforts throughout Nevada, with a targeted focus in Clark County which has experienced an increase in COVID transmission and a plateau in vaccination rates. Efforts include, but are not limited to:
Community COVID-19 vaccine clinic information can be found online at www.NVCOVIDFighter.org. The site also features live chat support to make scheduling a COVID-19 vaccine appointment and getting information about the vaccine more accessible.
People who have symptoms of COVID-19 or who are not fully vaccinated and are close contacts of someone who has COVID-19 should get tested. Community testing locations can also be found on the Nevada Health Response website at https://nvhealthresponse.nv.gov/find-covid-19-testing-in-nevada/.

The State is increasing efforts throughout Nevada, with a targeted focus in Clark County which has experienced an increase in COVID transmission and a plateau in vaccination rates. Efforts include, but are not limited to:
- Launching and supporting mobile vaccine units (MVUs)/clinics that will be deployed statewide, both in urban and rural areas, in partnership with Immunize Nevada and TourHealth. The State is working with SNHD and local leaders to determine targeted locations for MVUs. Pop-ups and mobile drop-ins will be scheduled as needed and be added to the NVCOVIDFighter.org website.
- Continuing an aggressive effort to enroll new providers to stock and administer COVID-19 vaccines directly to their patients.
- Continuing to utilize the Vaccine Call Center and text message outreach program to send reminders about second doses and reach others who have not yet received a COVID-19 vaccine. More than 39,000 text messages have already been sent and thousands of calls have already been made to remind Nevadans to get their second shot and assist with scheduling and/or finding a convenient location.
- Redoubling efforts to partner with community organizations and businesses to launch increased “Get Out The Vaccine” (GOTV) efforts. This will include grant opportunities for community organizations to support direct outreach campaigns aimed at education and turnout for target unvaccinated populations. This will also include the development of new partnerships with businesses throughout Southern Nevada to assist in outreach and offering incentives for residents to get vaccinated.
- Reassigning and deploying a group of State of Nevada staff and Immunize Nevada Community Health Workers to Southern Nevada to support the coordinated GOTV effort in partnership with SNHD and Clark County.
- Ensuring access statewide to any vaccine product by working with the Division of Emergency Management, the Nevada Department of Transportation, pharmacy partners, and others to physically redistribute COVID vaccines to providers in quantities they can use, no matter how large or small their practice/clinic.
- The State will continue to work with the Nevada Vaccine Equity Collaborative to ensure specific communication and outreach reaches all communities in the State, specifically in Southern Nevada.
