Renacci Responds to DeWine Having 'No Regrets' About Destroying Ohio's Economy
"Mike DeWine has proven he is incapable of remorse for the unprecedented carnage he did to Ohio."

Picture
Mike DeWine told the Associated Press this week that he has 'no regrets' about his response to the pandemic, reminding Ohioans (again) that he has learned absolutely nothing about the damage he did to Ohio:

  • Ohio lost nearly 900,000 jobs thanks to Mike DeWine's aggressive and unnecessary lockdowns that went against President Trump's leadership. Ohio's economy still hasn't recovered.

  • Mike DeWine was an "early lone wolf" and one of the first to completely shut down his state, locking down Ohio along with deep blue states like New York, California, and Illinois.

  • DeWine's decision to shut down Ohio's school for months cost Ohio's children dearly. Many are still dealing with mental and behavioral issues from being forced into distant learning by DeWine.

  • DeWine's disparate and unfair lockdowns shut down hundreds of thousands of small businesses while massive big-box stores like Target and Walmart were permitted to keep their doors open, prompting the Republican legislature to take action against DeWine.

  • According to one deli owner in Northeast Ohio, "All of the fear and doom handed down by Mike DeWine the past two years has us hanging on by a thread."

Jim Renacci issued the following statement in response:

"Mike DeWine has proven he is incapable of remorse for the unprecedented carnage he did to Ohio. DeWine says he has no regrets about governing Ohio like a blue state liberal, shutting down nearly a million jobs and decimating Ohioans' livelihoods, forcing our children into remote learning, and demanding our kids wear masks all day. Ohio families are still dealing with the fallout from his actions. Instead of asking for our votes, DeWine should be giving every Ohioan who voted for him a massive apology! DeWine could have led like Ron DeSantis, but he chose to lead like Gavin Newsom. We can't change the past, but we can protect our future by retiring Mike DeWine and putting Ohio back on the right path. As Governor, I will ensure Ohio is open for business and let everyone know it's OK to resume a normal life!"
