Tabletop / Video games, costumes, candy, great game developers...
Right off: The Halloween Expo combined a wide of games / developers / genres. Add in costumes and candy, an event everyone seriously enjoyed! Originally planned 3 hours there, ended up 4 - 4 1/2. Developers were happy to answer questions / receive feedback / show their hard work. As an indie media / author who designs everything, most people have no idea the actual Behind the Scenes "work" that goes into a creation. 2 floors of tabletop / video games and you could easily spend all 5 hours here and not even realize it.
The Halloween Expo had a great balance of genres and tabletop / video games. Tabletop included a re-invention of classic checkers, card, variation of Monopoly, strategy and one that combined paper with online / video. Video games? Virtual / Augmented Reality, platform, strategy, fighting, pretty much you name it. What was really surprising? Growing up in the '70s and 80s, the amount of games that were arcade / base Nintendo / Sega Genesis / almost flashback style. If you have no idea what an arcade is, look it up or go to a place like Dave and Busters. Miss those days of dropping quarters and getting blisters on the fingers...
Suggestion for attending any of Playcrafting's expos: Arrive before the event starts. Learned that from the Spring Expo. The events do get packed quick. Exploring the main room, hall, 2 floors will definitely take time.
