A Growing List

Like Philadelphia, every time I visit New York City, time is tight. As of June 19 2019, only a few visits have been made. The list will be expanding and growing.

Public Spaces

Bryant Park
Picture
ValeCity discovered Bryant Park almost by accident. Exploring beyond St. Patrick's Cathedral area, walked right past. Bryant Park is a great place to take a break and relax. Beautiful scenery, a carousel, plenty of seating, a variety of people all contribute to this 'must stop' and making the list. Forget Rockefeller Center at Christmas, Bryant Park is the place go! Tip: walking space can get very tight between vendors / shops and ice skating Rink.

July 13, 2019 finally had the chance to stop by in summer! First time was morning and was very surprised. The park was fairly empty and quiet. Those aspects added to the beauty. On the way back, had some time to burn. Decided to do a final stop before Port Authority. The park was packed with people. Walking around, it made me feel like I belonged in NY. I know, weird, but that was the effect. A beautiful summer evening, people all around, New York City 24 / 7 life!!!! Reminding me to stop, take a break, enjoy life and the moments we are in......

Madison Square Park

Walking by here a few times, finally had a chance to actually stop and check it out. Madison Square Park is beautiful! A main reason it made this list? After taking time to sit in the grass and enjoy being there, the city faded into the background. Yes, still saw the buildings, public transportation, cars, etc. Still heard all the sounds of NYC: people, cars, horns... Somehow, after a few minutes, the park and moment were all that existed.

Buildings

St. Patrick's Cathedral

St. Patrick's Cathedral is one of many tourist attractions. The outside is beautiful to say the very least. Walking in, you really feel small. You will also feel a sense of complete awe and wonder. The size, architecture and design might even give you chills...

Galleries

Rehs Contemporary
Picture
Photo is from the Imagine exhibit (2018). The exhibit made ValeCity's "Best of 2018" list. To date, Imagine is still the best art exhibit experienced.

Reh's Contemporary Galleries is not that large. The layout is perfect for a quick walk-through or if you want to experience each creation. Reh's is above street level, you do not have distractions from the outside world. A welcoming, professional, friendly staff gives you the feeling of belonging here. Different exhibits throughout the year could make each visit unique and very memorable.

There is a slight drawback, the hours. ValeCity is usually in NYC on the weekends. Unless they have an exhibit opening, Reh's is Monday - Friday during the day.
