We are thrilled to introduce Marguerite Anglin as the new Public Art Director of the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy. In the role of Public Art Director, Marguerite will:
About Marguerite AnglinMarguerite is a licensed architect with over 20 years of experience in the planning and design industry. She has played a key role in various architecture firms and institutions, providing design leadership and project management for the development of urban environments in Philadelphia and beyond. Marguerite is also a visual artist who uses traditional and non- traditional methods to create inspirational mixed-media paintings. As an artist and architect, she is interested in finding innovative ways to bridge the gap between art, the built environment, and the human experience.
Prior to joining the City, Marguerite was the Associate Director of Architecture for Temple University’s Project Delivery Group, where she gave oversight to the planning and design efforts on Temple’s Main and Center City campuses. In this role, Marguerite provided guidance to internal and external teams of architects, designers, and consultants tasked with implementing various components of the campus master plan. Prior to Temple, Marguerite worked as an architect at private design firms such as WRT Design, an interdisciplinary architecture and planning firm in Philadelphia. At WRT, Marguerite managed various educational, residential, and institutional design projects from programming to construction completion.
Marguerite is a long-time resident of Philadelphia and is a graduate of Temple University, where she received her Bachelor of Architecture degree. Marguerite previously served as President of the Philadelphia Chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects (PhilaNOMA), and Board President for the Charter High School for Architecture + Design (CHAD). Her prior affiliations also include American Institute of Architects (AIA), and Women in Architecture (WIA).
- Oversee the conservation and management of the City’s world-renowned collection of more than 1,000 works
- Commission new permanent site-specific public art through the Percent for Art Program that is community-driven and is a true reflection of the unique people and culture of its surroundings
- Ensure that Philadelphia’s public art collection reflects the City’s values of inclusiveness, integrity and respect for the diversity of its citizenry, visitors and history
