NCDHHS Launches Online Portal to Reimburse Providers Treating Those Without Health Insurance for COVID-19 Related Primary Care Visits

Picture
RALEIGH — The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services today launched an online portal for primary care providers to request reimbursement for COVID-19 related costs for individuals without insurance.  Providers can go to the NCTracks secure portal to access the reimbursement portal.
Primary care providers can receive $150 for each in-person or telehealth visit of eligible COVID-19-related care for uninsured individuals living in North Carolina. To be eligible for reimbursement, providers must operate in North Carolina and be registered in NCTracks, North Carolina’s Medicaid provider payment platform.
NCDHHS is reimbursing providers on a first-come, first-served basis for up to $7.8 million in total support. Funds are available through Dec. 30, 2020, or until they’ve been spent. Claims will be reimbursed retroactively to Sept. 1, 2020.
More details on the reimbursement program and on enrolling in NCTracks, are available on the NC Medicaid COVID-19 Related Services for Uninsured Individuals webpage.
There are other programs available to support providers who are responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. A fact sheet and chart listing other supports available are on the DHHS COVID-19 Response - Providers, Hospitals and Labs webpage under Resources to Support NC Providers Responding to COVID-19.
