LANSING, Mich. -- Today, Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist traveled to three small businesses, in Saginaw to highlight the administration’s Economic Jumpstart Plan, which would allocate millions in federal relief funding to support and invest in working people and small businesses in Michigan.
“Our administration has been working around the clock to support small businesses, especially those that are owned by entrepreneurs of color, women, and LGBTQ+ people in our communities,” said Lt. Governor Gilchrist. “It is crucial that we continue to provide relief and support to those have been hit the hardest, while also ensuring that Michigan entrepreneurs are equipped with the tools they need for their existing and new businesses to succeed.”
Governor Whitmer and Lt. Governor Gilchrist’s Michigan Economic Jumpstart Plan allocates a portion of the federal pandemic relief funding to support and invest in working people and small businesses in Michigan. Under the plan, the state will increase incentives to boost wages to attract applicants, provide grants to small businesses to ramp up hiring, and expand access to childcare for families with young children who want to return to work but cannot.
