LOCAL WOMAN NAMED PRESIDENT OF NATIONAL CELTIC ORGANIZATION

Picture
Celtic Cultural Alliance (CCA) Board President, Sarah Hesener announces the election of local CCA Executive Director, Jayne Ann Recker, as President of the Association of Scottish Games & Festivals. Founded in 1981, in a spirit of cooperation, the Association of Scottish Games and Festivals (ASGF) provides its member organizations with a clearinghouse of ideas, resources, and information to assist them in the production of Highland Games. ASGF is committed to the fundamental purpose of cooperation for the betterment of each of its members through sharing experiences and providing counsel.  She will serve as President until December 31, 2021.

The CCA has expanded with year-round programming to support the mission of promoting and preserving Celtic Culture through arts, music, literature, dance, and history programs. In keeping with the spirit of “Next Generation,” the CCA also offers scholarships to promising young students of the Celtic Arts. These yearly scholarships are offered to students of the arts, including Irish Step Dance, Highland Dance, Fiddle, and Bagpipes.

Jayne Ann has been the Executive Director of CCA since 2009.  She served as a volunteer for many years prior to her appointment.  A long time promoter of Celtic culture in the Lehigh Valley, Jayne Ann and her team has taken the Celtic Classic Highland Games & Festival to a whole new level of attendance, programming and financial stability.  Jayne Ann resides in Northampton with her husband, John.

About Celtic Cultural Alliance. On Columbus Day weekend in 1988, the first Celtic Classic was presented by a small group of individuals. The goal of this dedicated group was to create an event that symbolized the Celtic spirit and history, and to provide the impetus for an organization that focused on promoting the Celtic culture. This organization has now evolved into Celtic Cultural Alliance to better communicate the overall goals of the organization.

Sincerely,

Marcie Mulligan
Cultural Outreach Coordinator
