Gubernatorial Candidate Jenny Rae Le Roux Releases Secure Elections Plan Two Weeks Before Election Day
REDDING — Candidate for Governor Jenny Rae Le Roux released her Safe Elections Plan today to help increase election security, and released a Voter Resource Guide so voters in every California county can find voting options specific to them.
Fair and secure elections are the foundation of a thriving democracy.
Le Roux stated, “Elections must be conducted in a manner that assures all people of all political affiliations, races, and ethnicities that all legally cast votes will be counted fairly.”
Le Roux’s plan encourages Californians to take 5 steps to increase election security.
1. Become a Poll Worker
In the last election, Democrats accounted for ~90% of poll workers. Le Roux again, “There is nothing wrong with Democrats serving as poll workers, but Republicans and NPP voters must bring balance to our polling places.”
2. Become a Poll Watcher
Poll watchers are volunteers who watch the election process and make sure things are going smoothly. In California, anyone is allowed to observe the voting process.
Le Roux encourages voters to report a complaint via the following ways if they see anything troubling at a polling place: report your complaint online at www.sos.ca.gov, call the Secretary of State at (800) 345-VOTE (8683), email them at elections@sos.ca.gov, or contact your local county registrar.
3. Vote!
Le Roux spoke to the mistrust in the election system that some citizens have, “Over the last year, many Americans have expressed concern that their votes are not going to be counted fairly. This needs to be addressed, but it should not keep you from voting. Not voting removes the opportunity you have of influencing the elections.”
If you are concerned about the integrity of your ballot, vote in-person or by dropping off your mail-in ballot in person. Polls are open between 7am and 8pm.
Le Roux’s campaign released a county-by-county guide to help voters find election information relevant to their location.
4. Track Your Ballot
After voting, Le Roux encourages voters to ensure that their ballot was received and accepted. You can do this at the Secretary of State’s website or through the phone number or website provided here for your county elections office.
5. Request a Hand Count Audit (if necessary)
If you have concerns that the election results were not tabulated accurately or fairly, any registered voter in California has the right to request a hand count audit of any election. “If citizens have concerns rooted in good-faith reasons, they should avail themselves of this option,” Le Roux stated.
