Top Gubernatorial Candidate Jenny Rae Le Roux: “Educate Don’t Mandate” as Survey Shows 85% of Parents Are Against School Mask Mandates

REDDING -- California businesswoman and Gubernatorial Candidate Jenny Rae Le Roux released the results of a survey conducted by her campaign showing that 85% of California parents are against mask mandates in schools.

Only 15% of the 273 surveyed California parents favored mask mandates in schools, with a clear supermajority wanting to retain decision-making power around what is best for their children.

Le Roux says the California Department of Public Health should heed the unified voice of parents across the state: “It is not the job of our government to force children to wear a mask. We must let parents decide what is best for their children. Let me be clear: I am not against masks. But I am against mask mandates that take the decision-making power out of the hands of parents and place it in the hands of the government. It is the government’s job to educate, not mandate. Every public district provides an online learning option for parents who don’t feel comfortable sending their children to school where other children may be unmasked. This is the way for everyone to get what they want.”

Earlier this week, Le Roux also released an Action Plan to help parents advocate for in-person learning this fall without mask mandates. In this Action Plan, Le Roux describes 8 simple and practical steps every parent can take to make masks optional in their kids' schools. The Action Plan also includes a sample petition that can be used to rally support.

Le Roux referenced her personal experience as a mom and strategist when talking about the issue: “I’m a mom with 2 kids in public school and mask mandates don’t work for our family, as well as for millions of other families across the state. As a data strategist, my goal in this campaign is to give Californians a voice and use the input they provide to free California to live, work and breathe again.”

The Action Plan is available for free download.
