Health Response video Emergency Response
Las Vegas, NV -- Today, Nevada Health Response released a video including behind-the-scenes footage of the State Emergency Operations Center and the Joint Operations Center in Carson City.
The State Emergency Operations Center is central to Nevada’s effort to coordinate resources and information for local and tribal governments. When activated by the Chief of the Division of Emergency Management, the Center can be scaled to meet the precise needs of the incident (emergency or disaster).
Personnel from other state agencies can be activated to serve as decision makers or to provide reach-back capability to their parent agency. The DEM staff provides general staffing functions, which allow the Center to follow a planning cycle, receive resource requests from local governments, identify funding mechanisms, and to generally coordinate local, tribal, state, and federal efforts toward the same goals and outcomes.
The Nevada National Guard Joint Operations Center (NVNGJOC) serves as the central coordinating center for all facets of Nevada National Guard operations. The Center is located within the same building as the State Emergency Operations Center to facilitate strong interagency coordination. The NVNGJOC is traditionally managed by the Directorate of Joint and Domestic Operations (J3) and is augmented from across the breadth of specialized skill sets within the NVNG Headquarters during emergency operations.
