CARSON CITY – Today, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak hosted a panel called “Women on the Front Lines: Nevada’s COVID-19 Response” as part of the Women’s Leadership Series. The series of roundtable discussions are a way to continuing to highlight female leadership across the State and create connections to the next generation of leaders.

“For the last year, it’s not been lost on me that many of the leaders in our State who’ve spearheaded our response efforts to the pandemic have been women. They have dedicated themselves to the people of this great State - Working long days and nights to help protect Nevadans from this deadly virus.,” Governor Sisolak said during today’s panel. “To put it simply: They are incredible, and I am grateful to have worked with these leaders throughout the pandemic.”

Today’s panel was attended virtually by high school juniors and seniors across the State and granted them the opportunity to ask the invited panelist questions about their lived experiences and careers. The panel was led by female leaders who have been in the front lines aiding Nevada’s COVID-19 response. Panelists included:
  • Kyra Morgan, State Biostatistician
  • Melissa Peek-Bullock, State Epidemiologist
  • Karissa Loper, Deputy Bureau Chief, Department of Public and Behavioral Health
  • Director Jennifer Ott, Department of Agriculture
  • Asha Jones, Chief of Staff, Congressman Horsford
  • Geo Arguello-Kline, Culinary Local Union 226
