LANSING, Mich.—Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist II issued the following statements after the United States Senate confirmed Chief Legal Counsel Mark Totten to serve as United States Attorney for the Western District of Michigan.

Statements
“Mark has been on my team since day one,” said Governor Whitmer. “His legal advice and leadership helped us put Michiganders first. As a former prosecutor, I cannot imagine a more qualified leader to serve as U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan—the place that Mark calls home. He is a passionate public servant who will do a phenomenal job as a U.S. Attorney. We will miss Mark. I wish him the best of luck.”

“Mark will stand tall in the Department of Justice just as he has for his fellow Michiganders,” said Lt. Governor Gilchrist. “He embodies the spirit of public service having spent his career delivering for the people of Michigan and working to uplift and empower families and communities every day. Those of us who worked with him will miss his passion, intellect, and perseverance. I cannot wait to see all he does for the American people as U.S. Attorney for the Western District.”
