Governor Whitmer Makes Appointments to Boards and Commissions
LANSING, Mich. – Governor Gretchen Whitmer today announced the following appointments to the Michigan Beef Industry Commission, Collection Practices Board, State Construction Code Commission, Board of Examiners in Mortuary Science, Michigan Board of Nursing, Ski Area Safety Board, and the Michigan Women’s Commission.
Michigan Beef Industry Commission
Monte J. Bordner, of Sturgis, is the owner of Bordner Angus Farms. He is a board member of the St. Joseph County Farm Bureau and the Michigan Cattlemen’s Association. Mr. Bordner is appointed to represent members engaged in the raising, breeding, or growing of cattle or calves for beef production, for a term commencing July 10, 2020 and expiring May 31, 2023. He succeeds Garry Lee Wiley whose term expired May 31, 2020.
David A. Clark, of Clifford, is an auctioneer and owner of Clare County Livestock Auction, LLC. He holds a Livestock Management and Nutrition certificate from Michigan State University and is a member of the Michigan Cattleman’s Association and the Michigan Auctioneer’s Association. Mr. Clark is reappointed to represent a member engaged in the operation of a public livestock marketing firm for a term commencing July 10, 2020 and expiring May 31, 2023.
Bret Schapman, of Almont, is the owner of Ingleside Farms. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Michigan State University and is a member of the Michigan Cattlemen’s Association. Mr. Schapman is reappointed to represent members engaged in the feeding of cattle for beef production for a term commencing July 10, 2020 and expiring May 31, 2023.
The Michigan Beef Industry Commission was created under Public Act 291 in 1972 to promote the sale of beef and beef products. The Commission, the Beef Promotion and Research Board, and the National Cattlemen's Beef Association work together in a coordinated state and national effort to promote beef and veal products in order to hold market share and increase the demand for beef and veal.

Dani K. Liblang, of Birmingham, is an attorney and president of The Liblang Law Firm, PC. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. Ms. Liblang is appointed to represent professionals for a term commencing July 10, 2020 and expiring June 30, 2024. She succeeds Rebecca Roberts whose term expired June 30, 2020.
Tracy D. Lucas, of South Lyon, is the executive director of strategy management for the Wayne County Airport Authority and a licensed realtor with Century21 in Northville. He holds an Executive Master of Business Administration from Indiana University and a Master of Liberal Studies in Interdisciplinary Technology from Eastern Michigan University. Mr. Lucas is appointed to represent the general public for a term commencing July 10, 2020 and expiring June 30, 2024. He succeeds Nicholas Dondzila whose term expired June 30, 2020.
The Michigan Collection Practices Board was created to license and regulate collection agencies that directly or indirectly engage in soliciting a claim for collection or collect, or attempt to collect, a claim owed or due. The Board works with the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs to oversee the practice of approximately 713 collection agencies and 525 collection agency managers.

Laurie L. Catey, of Royal Oak, is the senior engineer and owner of L.L. Catey Engineering Services, LLC. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University and a Master of Business Administration from Baker College. Ms. Catey is appointed to represent the field of professional engineering for a term commencing July 10, 2020 and expiring January 31, 2024. She succeeds Michael Boss whose term expired January 31, 2020.

The State Construction Code Commission was created to improve the quality of housing for Michigan residents while assisting the housing industry. The Commission appoints the members to the Building Officials Advisory Board.

Mrs. Reddinger is appointed to represent licensed practical nurses for a term commencing July 10, 2020 and expiring June 30, 2024. She succeeds Jill DeVries whose term expired June 30, 2020.

Andrew Farron, of Marquette, is the general manager of Marquette Mountain Resort. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Michigan. Mr. Farron is appointed to represent Upper Peninsula ski area managers for a term commencing July 10, 2020 and expiring June 8, 2024. He succeeds Nick Sirdenis whose term expired June 8, 2020.
Charles H. Gano, of Indian River, is the general counsel for Boyne Resorts. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from Case Western Reserve University. Mr. Gano is reappointed to represent the Central United States Ski Association for a term commencing July 10, 2020 and expiring June 8, 2024.
The Michigan Ski Area Safety Board was created to license and regulate ski areas and ski lifts in Michigan. The Board works with the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs to oversee the operation of ski areas, surface and chair lifts, and rope tows.

Danielle K. Atkinson, of Royal Oak, is the founding director of Mothering Justice. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Political Science from Pfeiffer University. Ms. Atkinson is appointed for a term commencing July 16, 2020 and expiring July 15, 2023. She succeeds Margaret Wheeler Derrer whose term expires July 15, 2020.
Catherine Hendrian, of Plymouth, is the senior vice president of people and culture for CMS Energy and its principal subsidiary, Consumers Energy. Ms. Hendrian was first appointed to the Commission in 2017. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in human resources and organizational development from Eastern Michigan University. Ms. Hendrian is appointed for a term commencing July 16, 2020 and expiring July 15, 2021. She succeeds Renee Haley who has resigned.
Sabala R. Mandava, M.D., of Bloomfield Hills, is a senior staff radiologist and director of the Division of Breast Imaging at Henry Ford Hospital. She earned her medical degree from the Guntar Medical College in India, had her internship with Hurley Medical Center, residency in diagnostic radiology at Michigan State University, and fellowship in women’s imaging at Henry Ford Hospital. Dr. Mandava is appointed for a term commencing July 16, 2020 and expiring July 15, 2023. She succeeds Christine Etienne whose term expires July 15, 2020.
Faye Nelson, of Grosse Pointe Woods, is the director of Michigan programs for the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Mercy College of Detroit and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Detroit School of Law. Ms. Nelson is appointed for a term commencing July 16, 2020 and expiring July 15, 2023. She succeeds Barbara Land whose term expires July 15, 2020.

Muna Jondy, of Flushing, is an attorney and owner of her private practice, The Law Office of Muna Jondy, and a cooperating attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union of Greater Flint. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Manitoba Law School and Master of Laws in Public Law from the Michigan State University College of Law. Ms. Jondy was appointed to the Commission in 2019. The Governor has designated Ms. Jondy to serve as Chairperson of the Commission.
The Michigan Women's Commission was created by statute in 1968. The Commission’s duties include reviewing the status of women in Michigan, directing attention to critical problems confronting women, recommending ways of overcoming discrimination, enabling women to develop skills, conducting surveys, and recognizing women's accomplishments and contributions to Michigan.
