Governor Sisolak, Nevada Department of Health and Human Services release updated COVID-19 Vaccination Program Playbook, Governor extends current mitigation measures
Carson City, NV — Today, Governor Steve Sisolak was joined by experts from the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services to announce updates to Nevada’s COVID-19 Vaccination Program Playbook for Statewide Operations.
Additionally, the Governor announced he plans to extend the current COVID-19 mitigation measures in place for another 30 days. Just as the State has operated since the start of the pandemic, the State will remain flexible and if situations change, the State will adjust. A full list of the current mitigation measures can be found online at NVHealthResponse.nv.gov.
This third version of Nevada’s Playbook includes information for clinicians, more details on individual populations, guidance related to the specific recommended vaccines, and many new or updated resource links.
Nevada’s vaccine distribution structure has been updated with the recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations, and takes into account Nevada’s mortality data, to include prioritization for people 70 years and older with frontline essential workers, and those 65-69 years, individuals with disabilities, as well as people with underlying health conditions with other essential workers.
“We all share the common goal of getting Nevadans access to the vaccine as quickly as possible in an equitable way,” said Gov. Steve Sisolak. “We are focused on a science and policy-based distribution model and the updates to the COVID-19 Vaccination Playbook ensure we continue on the best path for Nevadans.”
Nevada’s COVID-19 Vaccination Program Playbook for Statewide Operations was submitted to the CDC on Oct. 16, 2020 by the Nevada State Immunization Program and since that time the playbook has been updated twice as more information is received from the CDC and the Food and Drug Administration related to COVID-19 vaccine.
