Governor Sisolak proclaims October 31 as Nevada Day
LAS VEGAS, NV – Today, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak issued a proclamation naming October 31 as Nevada Day in honor of the Silver State’s 157th birthday. A link to the Governor’s Nevada Day Proclamation can be found here and attached is a PDF version of the proclamation.
“It is most fitting and proper that such an anniversary be observed by the people of Nevada in remembrance of its historic admission into the Union during the Civil War that gave us Nevada’s motto “All for Our Country” and title “Battle Born,” said Gov. Sisolak. “Nevadans proudly embrace the wide-open spirit that resonates through every corner of the State, from the high desert to snow-capped peaks, from vast desert sagebrush valleys & pinyon-juniper hills, to the sparkling waters of Lake Tahoe to the 24-hour neon lights of the cities throughout our State.”
Tomorrow, Friday, October 29, is Nevada Day (observed) and State offices are closed for the official holiday.
On Saturday, October 30, Governor Sisolak will participate in the 83rd Nevada Day Parade taking place in Carson City at 10 a.m. Governor Sisolak will be walking with UNR President and former Governor Brian Sandoval and his wife, Lauralyn, as well as the Nevada Wolf Pack Marching Band. The theme of this year’s parade is ‘Historic Moments in Nevada’ recognizing the greatest historic events throughout Nevada history that helped shape and define the Silver State.
Additionally, Nevadans participating in this year’s trick-or-treating activities in Carson City are encouraged to visit the Governor’s Mansion on Sunday, October 31, as Governor Sisolak and First Lady Kathy Sisolak will be passing out candy and taking pictures with children and their families from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Certain COVID-19 protocols will be in place and can be found here: https://gov.nv.gov/News/Press/2021/Governor_Sisolak,_First_Lady_Sisolak_to_host_trick-or-treating_at_Nevada_Governor%E2%80%99s_Mansion/
