Governor Sisolak Orders Flags to Half-Staff in Honor of Vice President Walter Mondale
CARSON CITY, Nevada – Today, by executive order, Governor Steve Sisolak ordered the flags of the United States and the State of Nevada to be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and State public buildings and grounds as a mark of solemn respect and in remembrance of United States Vice President Walter Mondale. The Governor’s executive order aligns with a Presidential Proclamation issued by President Joe Biden to lower United States flags until sunset on the day of interment.
“Today, we will lower the flags as we mourn and honor Vice President Walter Mondale, a dedicated public servant and a national leader who inspired so many through his service,” said Gov. Sisolak. “Kathy and I continue to extend our deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and his loved ones during these trying times.”
On April 19, 2021, former Vice President Walter Mondale passed away at age 93. Mondale, was the 1984 Democratic nominee for President of the United States, served as Attorney General of Minnesota, United States Senator, and as the United States Ambassador to Japan.
