Gov Sisolak Flags Half Staff Honor Victims 9/11
Carson City, NV -- Today, by executive order, Governor Steve Sisolak ordered the flags of the United States and the State of Nevada to be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and state public buildings and grounds for the entire day on Friday, September 11, 2020 in honor of those that lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
“It is with solemn honor that we lower the flags out of respect for all of those the lost their lives on Patriot Day 19 years ago,” said Gov. Sisolak. “It is also a day to remember all of the courageous first responders that sacrificed so much and ensured that the number of lives lost was not larger.”
On December 18, 2001 the United States Congress designated September 11th as “Patriot Day.” Nevada lowers its flags each year on September 11th to honor and recognize those who were injured or killed on this tragic day in America’s history. As a State, this day of remembrance draws attention to the courage and compassion of first responders, members of the military, and all of those that rose to the occasion to save lives and aid in the recovery both during and after the attacks.
