Governor Steve Sisolak Discusses Nevada’s Economic, COVID-19 Recovery at NGA Meeting Calls for Continued Federal Support to Assist Nevada Families
LAS VEGAS, NV - This weekend, Governor Sisolak joined a bipartisan group of governors at the National Governor Association’s 114th annual winter meeting to discuss Nevada’s economic and COVID-19 recovery.
“It was great to discuss solutions to fuel our national recovery with governors from both sides of the aisle this weekend,” said Governor Steve Sisolak. “In the last three years, we’ve made significant progress growing our economy and supporting Nevada families - but we know there is more work to do. Now more than ever, we need continued partnership and leadership from the federal government to support our efforts.”
Throughout the pandemic, Governor Sisolak has focused on lives and livelihoods by securing over half a million rapid tests, expanding COVID-19 treatments, and funding mental health services. While there is more work to be done, Nevada has seen progress as the Silver State was rated for the best economic momentum in the country and Las Vegas recently ranked in the top four metros for largest job growth.
Since 2019, the Governor has focused on issues to support Nevada families, including expanding access to affordable health care, investing in clean energy jobs, allocating $20 million to increase affordable housing, and funding education at unprecedented levels.
