Governor Sisolak Appoints Kevin Benson as General Counsel for Governor’s Office
CARSON CITY, Nevada – Today, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak announced the appointment of Kevin Benson as General Counsel for the Governor’s Office, effective Monday, November 16th, 2020.
“I am so pleased to welcome Kevin Benson to the Governor’s Office as our new General Counsel,” said Governor Sisolak. "As a long time Senior Deputy Attorney General for the Nevada Attorney General’s Office, and his extensive experience in the private sector, Kevin has proven himself as a leader in the legal field. I am confident his legal knowledge and skillset will be a great benefit to our team and to our great State of Nevada.”
From 2004 to 2015, Benson served as Senior Deputy Attorney General in the Nevada Attorney General’s Office representing several state agencies including the Division of State Lands, State Public Works Board, Unclaimed Property and the Secretary of State. Since 2015, Benson has achieved success in the private sector, including working for Carson City law firm Allison MacKenzie, Ltd., and as owner of his own firm.
“I am excited to join the Governor’s Office in service of the great State of Nevada,” said Benson. “I look forward to the challenging and rewarding work ahead with the Governor’s team.”
Throughout his career, Benson has remained devoted to the State’s legal community as he has served as a member of the Nevada Supreme Court Bench-Bar Committee, the Nevada State Bar Appellate Litigation Section, and the Standing Committee on Judicial Ethics.
Benson earned his Juris Doctor from Rutgers University School of Law and obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of Nevada, Reno. While at Rutgers, he was Vice-President of the Cyberlaw Club and at UNR, member of the Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Society.
