Governor Sisolak Appoints Isla Young as Executive Director for the Governor’s Office of Workforce Innovation
CARSON CITY, Nevada – Today, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak announced the appointment of Isla Young as Executive Director for the Governor’s Office of Workforce Innovation (OWINN), effective February 8, 2021.
“I am very excited to welcome Isla Young as the new Executive Director for OWINN,” said Governor Sisolak. "Isla’s brings over 19 years of workforce development experience that will be instrumental in advancing OWINN’s mission of developing a more skilled, diverse, and aligned workforce in Nevada.”
Young has gained institutional knowledge at OWINN as a Senior Program Development & Engagement Specialist, focusing on developing relationships with key stakeholder and external partner organizations throughout Nevada. Previously, she was the Director of STEM Education & Workforce Development at the Maui Economic Development Board for over 17 years.
The Governor's Office of Workforce Innovation has responsibility and accountability for apprenticeships and work-based learning within Nevada. OWINN helps drive a skilled, diverse, and aligned workforce in the state of Nevada by promoting cooperation and collaboration among all entities focused on workforce development. OWINN is responsible for developing the State’s plan for implementing the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).
