Gov. Herbert lowers flags in honor of National Fallen Fighters Memorial Weekend
SALT LAKE CITY (Oct. 4, 2020) – In coordination with President Donald Trump’s proclamation, Gov. Gary R. Herbert has ordered the lowering of the flag of the United States of America and the flag of the State of Utah on Sunday, October 4, 2020, in honor of National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend and to add awareness to Fire Prevention Week, scheduled for October 4 - 10, 2020.
The governor released the following statement:
“We join with the entire country in paying our respects to the brave men and women who lost their lives while working to ensure the safety of our communities. We are grateful to all firefighters, who risk their lives to protect ours. May God bless them and their families.”
Flags will be flown at half-staff at all state facilities and public grounds from sunrise until sunset on Sunday, October 4 only. Individuals and businesses are encouraged to fly the flag at half-staff for the same length of time.
