Governor Ron DeSantis Makes Two Judicial Appointments
Tallahassee, Fla. – Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointments of Judge Layne Smith to the Second Circuit Court, and Aaron Peacock to the Brevard County Court.
Judge Layne Smith
Judge Smith, of Tallahassee, has been a Leon County Judge since 2015. He previously served as the General Counsel for the Department of Lottery and Department of Business and Professional Regulation. He received his bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and his law degree from Florida State University College of Law. Smith fills the vacancy created by the retirement Judge James Hankinson.
Aaron Peacock
Peacock, of Melbourne, has been an Assistant State Attorney for the 18th Circuit since 2008. He previously served as a law enforcement officer. He received his bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University and his law degree from Florida State University College of Law. Peacock fills the vacancy created by the elevation of Judge Michelle Naberhaus.
