Get Out The Vaccine volunteers at work in Southern Nevada communities
Las Vegas, NV – Community volunteers are strategically positioned county-wide and working to ensure all Southern Nevada residents know that COVID-19 vaccine is available and free to everyone.
Operation Get Out The Vaccine (GOTVax) is supported by local volunteers committed to ensuring their neighbors throughout the Valley are able to receive this life-saving vaccine.
This operation is providing additional resources, promotion and support for the work being done by Clark County and its cities, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is actively engaged in providing staff support and resources.
Door-to-door outreach is occurring in select neighborhoods where information is being provided to residents about the vaccine and clinic locations. Additionally, volunteers and FEMA team members are assisting with business outreach, back-to-school vaccination clinics and other community events as opportunities are identified.
As of July 22, more than 8,000 flyers were distributed in five zip codes and volunteers participated in community outreach at 18 valley locations.
“Thank you to our many local volunteers who have answered the call to serve our community. It is an honor to be part of this response knowing there are so many individuals working to protect the health of their neighbors and all Clark County residents and visitors,” said GOTVax Incident Commander Sharon Luce. “The support of our federal partners has been unmatched as we all strive to slow COVID-19 and make sure everyone knows where they can get a shot.”
The GOTVax operation currently includes 47 local volunteers, 95 FEMA staff and 19 State staff including members of the Division of Emergency Management and Department of Health and Human Services. All team members have completed training for the outreach and event support.
In partnership with business and community organizations, those supporting the operation will be sharing educational information about the three available COVID-19 vaccines through community canvassing, clinic outreach and event information booths.
The COVID-19 vaccine is available for all those 12 years of age and older and is free for everyone. Insurance is not required.
If individuals need further assistance in finding the most convenient vaccination location, an updated site schedule has been added under the Clark County tab at NVCOVIDFighter.org or call the hotline at 800-401-0946.
