Get Out The Vaccine initiative reaches milestone
Las Vegas, NV – Today, the Clark County Get Out The Vaccine (GOTVax) operation announced that more than 105,000 materials with information on where to receive free COVID-19 vaccinations have been distributed throughout the greater Las Vegas metropolitan area since the operation began.
On July 17, 2021, GOTVax was launched with the goal of increasing COVID-19 vaccination rates in Southern Nevada. The mission is supported by local volunteers, State and local staff and resources, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
GOTVax teams are conducting door-to-door outreach in strategically identified neighborhoods to distribute flyers and information on the vaccines and the closest vaccination clinic. Additionally, the mission is supporting pop-up clinics and community events.
As of Monday, the team has participated in 72 events and completely canvassed five zip codes while teams continue to make progress in other areas with low immunization rates around the valley.
“I am so proud of this team and the work being done to ensure everyone who wants a vaccine knows where to find one,” said GOTVax Incident Commander Sharon Luce. “We are here to support Clark County and help this community get back on track. If you receive information at your door, and you haven’t already done so, please review it and consider getting vaccinated.”
Hundreds of individuals are part of the operation including State staff, FEMA partners and volunteers representing a dozen non-profit and faith-based organizations. GOTVax is focusing on neighborhood canvassing, event support and community outreach.
The outreach branch of the operation is connecting with communities, businesses and organizations who may be interested in hosting a clinic, or supporting an event in the community. If you are interested in hosting an event please call the hotline at 800-401-0946.
In a review of available data on zip codes where canvassing has occurred compared to zip codes that have not yet been canvassed, vaccination rates are almost double where outreach has occurred.
The COVID-19 vaccine is available for all those 12 years of age and older and is free for everyone. Insurance is not required.
If individuals need further assistance in finding the most convenient vaccination location, an updated site schedule has been added under the Clark County tab at NVCOVIDFighter.org or call the hotline at 800-401-0946.
