Small part of the real NYC
Ubering over from Blue Gallery: "This is something I can DEFINITELY get into..." An open space with people enjoying a spring evening. Love Manhattan, especially Times Square is a tourist trap illusion. Every time I go to a city, want to experience the local side and real version. Bryant / Madison Square parks are great examples in Manhattan. Usually trying to cover a lot / limited time.
For the first time, had a chance to experience the true community side of the city. Walking in, an acquaintance found me (actually she invited me). Quick walk through the gallery (right, it is big!). Usually, can find 1 or 2 favorites. No chance, amount of art was unbelievable. Even had a chance to speak with 2 artists.
Large main gallery / walk to back / left down corridor / right into another large gallery / indoor performance area.

Hungry / thirsty? Food beverages here! Forgive me for believing NYC stereotypes: prices nowhere near as high as expected.
Typing this review 2 days later, still remember telling someone: "This is what I needed. Taking a break / experiencing the community side / street level." I almost always walk when in a city. Find the best, local places that way. Hard to describe what I felt. Maybe it was remembering life as a kid / teenager. Definitely planning to stop at Culture Lab again during the summer. Loved experiencing another side of NYC. Special Thanks to Barbara for the invite! Gratitude to everyone at Culture Lab LIC / artists / live performers / everyone there. Check out the website / events. If you are in NYC, make plans to stop by on a weekend.
