COVID-19 Vaccine Dashboard updated to include new population
Carson City, NV -- Today, Nevada’s COVID-19 vaccination dashboard page has been updated to reflect vaccination of those 12 years and older.
Previously, the Dashboard provided data on the percent of the population 16 years and older who have initiated and completed vaccination. Now, due to the expanded eligibility, the percent of the population 16 and older who have been vaccinated has been replaced with a percent to include those 12 years and older.
Due to this update, the displayed percent of Nevadans who have initiated or completed vaccination has decreased. The percent of people who have initiated vaccination moved from 47.96% to 45.31% and completed vaccination decreased by 1.8%.
Based on Nevada State Demographer's 2021 Population Estimates there are 177,782 Nevadans age 12 to 15 who are now able to receive the 2-dose Pfizer vaccine.
Last week the Pfizer vaccine received expanded Emergency Use Authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and a recommendation for use by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices to include this additional population.
Following these reviews, and with the endorsement of the Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup, the State of Nevada immediately opened vaccination for all those 12 years and older.
