Carson City, NV -- Today, Caleb Cage, Nevada COVID-19 Response Director and Karissa Loper, Bureau Chief for the Bureau of Child, Family, and Community Wellness provided updates on Nevada’s ongoing COVID-19 response and vaccination efforts in Nevada during a call with members of the media.

- As of today, Nevada has logged 321,716 cases, with the 14-day rolling average of daily cases being 216.
- Nevada has now completed a total of 3,325,006 molecular tests since the beginning of COVID-19.
- The test positivity rate over the last 14 days is 4.8%.
- Today, the Nevada Hospital Association is reporting there are currently 301 COVID-19 hospitalizations (264 confirmed; 37 suspected)
- The NHA also reported today that Nevada has not witnessed any significant hospitalization increases since the counties lightened social distancing protocols on 1 May 2021.
- As a reminder, the COVID-19 Mitigation and Management Task Force is meeting tomorrow, Thursday, May 20 at 10 a.m. This task force meeting will be focused on vaccination efforts around the state.
- As of May 18, 2,129,945 COVID-19 vaccine doses (By Resident County) were administered and reported to Nevada WebIZ.
- Almost 46% of the population 12 and older has initiated vaccination and nearly 37% of the population 12 and older has completed vaccination.
- Earlier this week the COVID-19 vaccination page of the Dashboard was updated to reflect this newly eligible population in the percent of people who have initiated and completed vaccination.
- As of yesterday, 5,947 individuals in the 12-15 year old age group had received the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.
- The State is excited to expand vaccination to younger Nevadans and are working with providers to answer any questions and considering other possible vaccination locations to continue to make this process easy and accessible for all Nevadans.
- Only the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is approved for administration to anyone under the age of 18.
